The Half Moon is a pub and live music venue that offers both day and nighttime performances. The Half Moon is located in Putney.
Opening in the 1960s, the Half Moon is one of London’s oldest and most well respected live music venues. Past performers at the Half Moon have included such big names as: the Rolling Stones, The Yardbirds, The Pretty Things, The Who, and U2.
Other memorable gigs at the Half Moon were k.d. lang’s first UK appearance, Kate Bush’s first public gig, and a surprise appearance by Nick Cave. More recent performers at the Half Moon have been, the Steve Gibbons Band, the Alistair Goodwin Band, The Dukes, and the London Community Gospel Choir.
The threat of closure in 2009 sparked a high profile campaign to save the Half Moon. Later that year it was announced that the venue would remain open.
As well as music, the Half Moon has also been a venue for such comedy acts as, Billy Connolly, Harry Hill, and Al Murray.
