Free Things to Do in Central London Overview

Heaven - Live Music Venue | Nightclub in Central London, London

Being the tourist hotspot that it is, it’s wise to assume that it costs most to hang out in Central London than other parts of town. But free things to do in Central London are actually not a feat to find, with spots like Leister Square and Piccadilly Circus topping the list.

During the height of the tourist season in Leister Square, jam-packed crowds compete for space while mimes and other street performers put on shows. But as one of the busiest hubs of activity in all of London, there’s a chance for some solace at the small park in the center of the Square, where tuckered-out travelers can take a seat next to the garden’s statue of Shakespeare, with the church of Notre Dame de France nearby.

Piccadilly Circus boasts the similar charm of Leicester Square. Global travelers arrive by the busload to gawk at oversized billboards reminiscent of New York’s Times Square. They also stop to pose for pictures in front of the iconic statue of Anteros, god of requited love. Perpetually crammed with tourists, shoppers, and souvenir peddlers selling British kitsch, Piccadilly Circus is a whirlwind of activity that can be experienced for free.
