San Rafael, Ibiza –
Tucked away behind an Arabian-style keyhole door in San Rafael is El Ayoun, an elegant restaurant and lounge with a decidedly Moroccan and Middle Eastern flair.
Most of the venue’s space has been given over to the vast terrace and garden, whose white-tented dining enclaves and candlelit tables create a soothing aura conducive to long and lingering dinners.
Inside, the bar and lounge areas feature more keyhole archways and a tasteful décor of traditional Middle Eastern furnishings and textiles which, paired with the dim lighting throughout, lends the space an atmosphere that’s chic and fashionable and very conducive to flirting and mingling.
Although not technically a club, El Ayoun’s resident DJ still gets the crowd on its feet after midnight, a scene that’s been known to draw in clubbers from the nearby megaclubs who help keep the party raging until dawn.
Attractive and fashionable, early 20s to early 40s.
Ambient lounge music earlier on, mostly house spun by the resident DJ starting around midnight. Performances by a trapeze artist/acrobatic contortionist on the terrace twice nightly.
Menu features a mix of Mediterranean, Ibizan, and international flavors.
Prix fixe dinner €50. Beer €6, mixed drinks €10, shots €6.
Smart casual to dressy.
Any night of the week.
