Cala Jondal, Ibiza –
On an island filled with high-end beach clubs, Blue Marlin is like a giant outdoor living room – that is, if that living room were owned by a multi-millionaire who decided to plop his chichi furniture on the sand.
Accessed beachside via a wood-plank walkway surrounded by plush lounge chairs and cocktail stands, the venue draws well-heeled travelers who settle in to dine on gourmet sushi and local seafood like red prawns and spiny lobsters.
Dotted with daybeds and umbrellas, this luxurious expanse of sand and skin allows moneyed sun worshippers to soak up the rays, sip sugary sweet cocktails, or just spend hours in the dedicated massage tent.
There’s a see-and-be-seen vibe, for sure – and prices to match – but the atmosphere at Blue Marlin remains chill as new friends are made over bottles of Moët, love blooms in the glow of tree-hung chandeliers, and probably a few bygone lady killers look to relive their glory days.
As the sun sets, the chairs lining the open platform in the center of the space are moved aside to make way for a dance floor, where vodka-fueled partiers bump and grind their way through a DJ-driven selection of deep house, techno, and electronica that keeps booming until the wee hours.
Buzzing with a relaxed energy by day and an amped-up party by night, Blue Marlin gives vacationers a taste of A-list glitz and glamour – at least those who can afford the privilege.
If you want to work on your tan, make sure you book your sun bed in advance. They fill up quickly, and it can be tough to nab one on short notice. Go here to make a reservation.
Rich students, young professionals, vacationing celebrities, smart couples, sunbathers, models, international jet setters, and aspiring lady killers, 20s to 40s.
DJs spin deep house and techno at a comfortable volume from around noon, and louder from around 10pm to well into the next morning.
Asian-influenced Mediterranean cuisine and a large selection of sushi.
