Nice, French Riviera –
An active pedestrian walkway parallel to the beach, Rue Masséna is lined with ice cream shops, unique boutiques, and specialty shops.
Street performers entertain the crowds in the evening, while local artists offer watercolors of city scenes and other handcrafted souvenirs.
The recently built tram offers a comfortable, reliable, and rapid way of cruising up and down the busy street, and takes riders past ancient cathedrals and mosques on their way to shops like the French retail giant Galeries Lafayette.
Besides designer stores, the area also provides a plethora of charming cafés and ethnic restaurants where shoppers will find something to suit every taste and budget, from high-end cuisine to light snacks.
By night, the street takes on a festive vibe as a multicultural mélange of people gather near the enormous fountains in Rue Masséna to dance to everything from salsa to hip-hop for an appreciative crowd of onlookers.
Tourists and locals of all ages.
Street performers and artists.
The many restaurants, brasseries, and bars offer everything from exquisite French cuisine and Chinese take-out to Spanish tapas and Italian gelato.
