Cannes, French Riviera –
Located directly in front of the most luxurious hotels in town, some of the best shopping in the French Riviera, and the busiest nightlife in Cannes, the Plage de la Croisette has miles of beautiful sandy beaches filled with sunbathers and swimmers enjoying the clear, warm water.
A fair portion of the beach is taken up by hotel lounge chairs and beach bars, but there is ample room at either end for those who wish to enjoy the beach free of charge.
Sunbathers looking for a more luxurious beach experience can rent space at one of the private beaches and be treated to a comfy lounge chair and bar service, while sporty types can find plenty of activities from wind surfing and water skiing to the pick-up football and volleyball games that often take place near the famous amphitheater of the Cannes Film Festival at the end of the beach.
No matter where beachgoers lay their towels at Plage de la Croisette, however, they are all guaranteed a perfect viewing spot for the spectacular Cannes sunset.
For a great experience on one of Cannes’ private beaches, show up earlier in the day to secure an umbrella and a chair so you can be waited on in style before the masses of people arrive. If you’re sleeping in after a late night of dancing, though, there’s usually plenty of space on the white sand of the free public beaches – still within walking distance of the stores and bars, too.
All types and ages.
Variety of music from some of the beach bars.
Beachside stands sell sandwiches, crêpes, ice cream, and slushies at reasonable prices. Other restaurants can be found just a block or two away.
Reasonable prices for sandwiches, crêpes, and other snacks. Restaurant prices vary. Private beaches €16–€20/day, including umbrella and beach chair.
Beachwear.
Any sunny day. Sunsets are always beautiful from this beach.
Rue du Docteur Gérard Monod, which runs parallel to the beach, is lined with high-end boutiques and upscale hotels.
