Like most things in the South of France, French Riviera sports can often be a high-end affair – but that doesn’t mean the Côte d'Azur isn’t as enamored with soccer like the rest of its European compatriots. OGC Nice and AS Monaco FC fight for Mediterranean dominance as fans flock to their respective stadiums whenever there’s a match.
One of the biggest sports draws in the French Riviera (and all of France) is the Monaco Grand Prix, the annual Formula One race that brings thousands of spectators to the track to witness heart pounding action at breakneck speeds.
The Monte Carlo Masters is a big annual tennis tournament and the coastline hosts occasional big name golf tournaments as well.
Although the South of France is often reserved for the rich and famous, when it comes to watching the variety of sports in the French Riviera, all are created equal.
