Juan-les-Pins, French Riviera –
Located on the boardwalk right above the beach, Café Kanter is an open-air café that draws a trendy, upscale clientele that appreciates having cocktails available twenty hours a day.
No more than a roof held up by a few columns, the venue features a simple and sleek black-and white décor accented by modern chandeliers, scattered trees, and Buddha statuettes, as well as a splash of color in the form of candy displayed in glass jars on the metal bar.
Given the venue’s long hours, it’s no surprise that patrons flock in at all times, either for an early breakfast by the sea, a leisurely brunch, an afternoon coffee and people-watching, or a few post-beach cocktails.
Later in the evening, a live band entertains diners and then takes over completely as tables are pushed to the side to make room for dancing.
Both night and day, Café Kanter draws a continuous crowd of fashionable pedestrians lured inside by its nearly round-the-clock action.
Slightly upscale, friendly young professionals, mostly 20s and 30s.
Live music Wednesdays through Sundays.
Bistro style meals including steak frites and grilled fish. Breakfast, brunch, and dinner menus available.
Entrées €15+. Breakfast €12, dinner €20. Beer €5, wine €6, cocktails €15.
Smart casual. Dress code: no beach attire.
For cocktails at sunset on weekdays or around 11pm for dancing on weekends.
