With a festive young crowd and inexpensive drinks, it’s always easy to have a rowdy night at The Old Stove, a classic Irish pub in the center of town. Its location right off the Piazza della Repubblica attracts many young locals, foreign students, and English speakers who congregate every night for pints and a party.
On warm nights, however, patrons tend to flock to the lively scene on the spacious patio where white marble tables and black chairs – dimly lit by lanterns and surrounded by grand architecture – make for a festive atmosphere.
Complete with a flat-screen TV that swings out from the bar so clients can keep an eye on the game, the terrace is a popular place in summer and fall when students gather to sip cocktails.
There’s always a good time and a different vibe to be had at The Old Stove, whether it’s the mingle-happy aperitivo, the intense sports atmosphere during important football matches, the lighthearted karaoke nights, or the animated party scene on the weekends.
Mix of locals and English speakers, many American students, early to mid-20s.
Mostly pop and rock music. Satellite TV tuned to both Italian and American sports. Free Wi-Fi.
Sandwiches, salads, and pasta.
Sandwiches €5+, salads €7, pasta and pizza €7–€9. Beer €4+, wine €4, cocktails €6, shots €3.
Casual.
Weekends for the best party atmosphere, especially during football season.
