Man, what happened to will.i.am? He came from the days of making thoughtful and real hip-hop (he and apl.de.ap of the Black Eyed Peas were once signed to Eazy-E's record label in the early 90s) to creating the lyrical garbage that is "Scream And Shout" and now sparking controversy that he completely rips off existing EDM songs to create his own. (The recently revealed "reuse" of Arty and Mat Zo's track must have some justification, but that's a developing story as of the time I'm writing this.) The Black Eyed Peas once kept it real but became a prime example of artists losing their creativity and originality to conform to prevalent musical styles. I realize this is just the typical "hate on artist for selling out" argument, but to show a comparison of will.i.am from 15 years ago, when his musical output was respectable (and he even had his hand in production), to now when everything he creates has been dumbed down and sterilized into cliche pop-trying-to-be-electronic music, it's a shame. Such is the nature of the industry, I guess.
