Taylor Swift Bio

Taylor Swift

Singer-songwriter Taylor Swift experiments with elements of rock, pop, and country, and she has been writing from a young age. She was the youngest songwriter ever hired by Sony/ATV Music Publishing before embarking on her solo career.

Swift released her self-titled debut album in 2006, famous for the hit single, "Our Song". This album earned her a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. Her sophomore album, Fearless (2008) solidified her place in the music world by becoming the best-selling album of 2009 and included the singles "Love Story" and "You Belong with Me". Fearless won her 4 Grammys, and Swift became the youngest person to ever win the Album of the Year award. Swift's third album, Speak Now (2010), reflected her growing maturity and confidence, as evident in the hit songs "Mean" and "Back to December".

In Swift's most recent album, Red (2012), she embraced her dark side and channeled her inner rocker. It is filled with the angst she repressed in her last few albums. In these catchy, rock-infused tunes, Swift lashes out at people who've upset her. Some notable tracks on this album include "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together", in which she recounts her multiple breakups with Jake Gyllenhall, as well as "Better than Revenge", which is rumored to be a public condemnation of actress Camilla Belle for stealing her previous boyfriend, Joe Jonas.

Taylor Swift tours frequently and even went on a thirteen month tour after the release of Fearless. Her performances are lively and colorful. If you ever get a chance to see her live, you're in for a treat.

The most fun part about her music is trying to figure out which one of Taylor Swift's boyfriends each song is about. Which song is about Taylor Lautner? Harry Styles? John Mayer? Joe Jonas? The list goes on, but one thing is definite – as long as Taylor Swift continues to share her gift of storytelling through music, she's here to stay.

A while ago when Taylor’s debut song was introduced in the media, it was not so hard for me (and my surroundings) to be convinced that she with her music will become another one-hit-wonder. Sure, the music was catchy (Pop/Country) but another break up song after all. Boy was I wrong! Here comes another mega hit, and another, and another! Although her music is targeting the younger audience with little doubt its unique rhythm can be enjoyed by the little older folks which also explains her popularity. As it has been talked about, never seen an artist who has grown this much in size with break-up songs based on real life. Perhaps this just explains that there are so many folks out there who can relate to her lyrics as she sings her heart out on each, but it will be nice to see her generating hits talking about the sweet times as a couple when in relationships as well. Now that she seems to be changing her lyrics by moving away from break-up love songs (pressure from critiques kicked in?), it will be interesting to see if she can continue with her hit streaks further showing her talent. “22” was a great start.

Hmm, what to say about the current highest paid female musician. Her music is catchy, actually sings live, dates high profile celebrity boyfriends, etc. There’s too much to write about one of the current hottest singer/songwriter right now! However there are two things I would love to mention. First, I think that her music should be defined as POP…with country flair. I don’t think her music is straight up country like Carrie Underwood or Martina McBride. The songs are truly meant for teens and teeny boppers (core fan base) but anyone can listen to them! Second, I’m almost tired of the whole “breaking up with boyfriends and writing a song about them”. It’s not as creative anymore and yet I’m always curious to know who it’s about. Unfortunately. Some of my favs from Taylor are: Teardrops on my guitar, Eyes open.

Thanks to my little sister, Taylor is one of my biggest guilty pleasure. I love the beautiful simplicity of a lot of her music. That is not to say that her music is simply, I just like that a lot of her music is her and her guitar. No gimmicks. No fluff. Her honest is also quite refreshing. Her themes are also something that anyone who has been in love, or maybe thought they were in love can relate to. Although I am not sure that many of her exes would agree with my sentiment. I saw her live about a year ago in LA and her show was a blast. We had nosebleed seats in staples center, but it didnt matter. Her show was just fun and she is very engaging and enchanting (pardon the Swift reference.) Whats also amazing is that she writes all her own music. Can't wait for her new album!
