The Mighty Mighty Bosstones Bio

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones formed in 1983 in Boston, and is considered by many critics to be the first group to successfully blend ska and punk into a genre now called ska-core.

Although their debut album, Devil’s Night Out, was released in 1989, the band did not earn a widespread fan base until 1997’s Let’s Face It, which went platinum. The single “The Impression That I Get” from that album made it to the number one slot on the Billboard Modern Rock charts, while the songs “Rascal King” and “Royal Oil” hit number seven and 22, respectively.

Other popular songs include “Where'd Ya Go,” “So Sad To Say,” and “Someday I Suppose.”

Subsequent albums – seven studio releases so far – performed well but failed to match the success of Let’s Face It. More recent work includes Pay Attention (2000), A Jackknife to a Swan (2002), Pin Points and Gin Joints (2009), and The Magic of Youth (2011).

The band’s current members are Dicky Barrett, Tim Burton, Ben Carr, Joe Gittleman, Lawrence Katz, Chris Rhodes, Joe Sirois, and Kevin Lenear.
