Born in 1978, Thomas Wesley Pentz has made global hits as the Philadelphia-based DJ and producer, Diplo. He was once part of the duo Major Lazer and has produced for legendary pop stars like Beyoncé, Usher, and No Doubt. He co-wrote and produced M.I.A.’s 2007 debut single, “Paper Planes”, which quickly topped the US Hot Dance Singles Sales chart and made it to 4th on the Hot 100 chart.
Since the 2002 debut of Sound and Fury, Diplo has risen as one of the biggest producers and DJs in the world. He collaborated with Tiësto in 2010 on “C’Mon (Catch ‘Em By Surprise)”, which shot up to the top of the UK Dance chart. Recognizing his rising success, Rolling Stone named Diplo as one of the “40 Reasons to be Excited About Music” in 2010. Along with a whole list of hits, Diplo’s track “Pon De Floor” for his Major Lazer project was sampled in Beyoncé’s chart topping single “Run the World (Girls)”.
Tickets to Diplo concerts tend to sell out fast. Live Diplo shows are celeb-studded events full of surprise guest appearances and an energetic crowd ready to dance until daybreak. Diplo has headlined international tours and has performed at some of the biggest dance music festivals in the world like Hardfest and Electric Daisy Carnival.
