Dada Life Bio

Dada Life

Swedish electro house masters Dada Life live and make music by a simple philosophy, “Destroy dance music and have fun. Don't look back in the past. Always go forward. Don't think too much. Always follow the money. Do the Dada.” With international chart-topping hits and an energetic live show full of inflatable bananas and bottles of champagne, Dada Life is one of the biggest electronic dance (EDM) duos in the world.

Since 2006, Olle Corneer and Stefan Engblom have been making electro hits like “Happy Violence”, “Feed the Dada”, and “Kick Out the Epic Motherf*cker”. After the 2009 debut release of Just Do the Dada, their 2010 single, “Tomorrow (Give In to the Night)” charted on the Top 100 in both Belgium and Portugal. In recognition of their success, Dada Life was voted the 89th most popular DJ in DJ Magazine’s 2010 Top 100 list. Along with original singles and mixes, Dada Life remixes popular songs by artists like Lady Gaga, Eric Prydz, and Madonna.

Dada Life has provided support for a Tiësto tour and often headlines the Ultra Music Festival and the Electric Daisy Carnival. Tickets to Dada Life concerts almost always sell out, and in 2010 fans even caused a riot in Los Angeles after packing out a club to full capacity. Live Dada Life shows bring out a crowd of diehard fans wearing banana costumes and waiting to be pulled onstage to dance as Olle and Stefan churn out the beats.

I've always heard highly positive reviews of Dada Life and their live shows from my friends, and got an opportunity to see them this past weekend at the new Hakkasan club in Las Vegas, expecting something crazy -- and it definitely lived up to the hype. The whole "Dadaland" and bananas theme they use is simultaneously hilarious and party-effective, and the fact that they try to be as outlandish as possible provides for some great entertainment in addition to the music they play. This particular performance included (among other things I may have missed due to drunkenness or socializing off the dance floor) spraying champagne into the audience, dancing banana people in the rafters, cardboard masks of huge grins passed out to everyone at the entrance, inflatable bananas, numerous rains of confetti, and even pillows they ripped open and threw into the audience, instigating a lighthearted pillow fight and masses of cotton and wadded pillowcases flying everywhere for the remainder of the night. The whole thing was a big mess and a load of fun. If my blurry memory serves me correctly, it did seem like their set was rather short compared to the opening and closing DJs, but with the overall experience they gave, I can't really complain. Definitely an act that should be on any EDM fan's to-see list just for the novelty and how unique of a party they throw.

Dada Life is another Electro Duo that is always on my playlist when I am on an EDM high. Their Songs are unbelievable. Unlike other DJs, these guys add an element of over the top attitude that really makes you transcend from the real world and makes you want to dance. Some of my favorite songs by Dada Life are "Kick out the Epic Motherf**ker", "Cookies with a Smile", "Bass Don't Cry" and "Feed the Dada". I really hope to see these guys one day!!

Dada Life are awesome and definitely one of my favorite acts to see live. I've seen them a couple times now and each time they've managed to throw an awesome rager. Their music is so full of energy and has a certain party-ness that makes the crowd go wild! White Noise/Red Meat, Don't Feed the Dada, Hello and Cookies With A Smile are some of their classics that I can listen to on repeat and they never get old! Now that I can say I've been in the front of the crowd getting sprayed by champagne at a Dada Life show I'm pretty sure I've lived the life.
