Actor and comedian Aziz Ansari has acted in many comedic films and television shows. He is most famous for his role in NBC comedy Parks and Recreation as government employee Tom Haverford.
As a student a New York University, Ansari began performing standup comedy. He first got his start when he starred in and helped create comedy sketch show Human Giant (2007-2008). After two seasons on MTV, Ansari and his co-creators quit the show to pursue other career goals.
In the realm of film, Ansari has acted in Get Him to the Greek (starring Russell Brand and Jonah Hill), I Love You, Man (starring Paul Rudd), Observe and Report, 30 Minutes or Less, and Funny People. Funny People Director Judd Apatow commissioned Ansari and Human Giant co-creator Jason Woliner to develop online short films about Ansari's character in Funny People in order to promote the films. These shorts were internet hits and are being used as inspiration for future Apatow films. Within this short amount of time, Ansari has become one of the hottest new comedians in Hollywood.
Ansari has embarked on three comedy tours, showcasing fresh material in each one. In 2010, he released the comedy CD titled Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening. He subsequently performed his Dangerously Delicious Tour, and, thereafter, his latest tour titled Buried Alive. He has also made appearances in various comedy shows, such as Scrubs and Flight of the Concords. If his rapid success in the past few years is any indication, Ansari is destined to be one of the leading comedians in the entertainment world.
