Alesso

Alesso is a rising star on the electronic dance (EDM) scene. Born in Stockholm in 1991, he has already made global buzz as a popular DJ and progressive house producer. After his 2010 debut, Alesso EP, he shot up to the top of the world dance charts with singles and remixes of dance legends like Tiësto and Avicii.

In 2011, Alesso’s remix of “Pressure” was one of the most played EDM tracks in the world, gaining him a spot at 70 of DJ Magazine’s Top 100 DJ list. With “Calling (Lose My Mind)”, he continued his success, topping the US Dance chart and coming in at 19 on the UK Singles chart. As one of the biggest emerging electronic artists, MTV named Alesso the EDM act to follow in 2012.

Alesso gained fans all over the world with his support of Madonna’s MDNA tour. He has also performed with dance icons like Swedish House Mafia at the biggest festivals and raves in the world including the annual Electric Daisy Carnival. Tickets to Alesso concerts sell out fast and his live shows tend to get packed with an energetic crowd eager to dance to his driving beats and ethereal melodies.

This weekend I got to have a miniature little Coachella at the Alesso concert. Upon stepping into the venue a new world wrapped around me as I left my stressed out, overworked self at the door. I started to ascend the stairs to the balcony to get a better view of the event that was going on around me. There was not a care in the world on this night as I gazed down on the awed struck fans mindlessly dancing and exploding into excitement at the drop of each beat. If you are like me and can't make it to Coachella I highly recommend going to this concert because it is an unreal experience that everyone must experience at least once in their lives.

The first time I heard Alesso I absolutely fell in love with him. It was the before the vocal version had been released. Alesso has a special effect on your mind and body. He builds up the beat with exuberant flow, and joyful melody to go along with it that you can jam to. When you hear Alesso in the club, radio, or concert your subconscious is most definitely forced into a state of turning off you mind, and turning on your heart. Alesso is multifaceted and world class dj and if you miss out on him you need to make some serious initiative to hear him live.

After hearing some of Alesso's songs on the EDM station, I bought a ticket to his concert in Seattle at the Showbox, my favorite venue in the city. The starting DJs started to bore out the crowd, but once Alesso came on, the concert was magical. He played all his hit songs and the crowd was pumped. My favorite part- the glitter that fell down at the chorus of "Calling." Throughout the night, you could tell he was passionate about DJing, and got the crowd excited. Awesome show!

I've never been a very big fan of trancy-electro. I much prefer harder songs that have more hip-hop influences. However, a few weeks ago I heard the Alesso remix of "Heiress of Valentina," and I fell in love with the song. FOr some reason I just find the melody and the lyrics inspirational. It makes me want to get up and achieve my goals. After hearing that, I would love to see him live, and hopefully I will have the opportunity to do so soon.
