The New Urban Feel

From independent coffee shops and bars, to common household brand name stores Wicker Park has something for all. Hispsters, metal-head, and even yuppies can all gather here anytime of the day to socialize, shop, and simply enjoy the hustle and bustle that is Wicker Park. You will hear music fill the streets as the Double Doors put on some great concerts, looking for a hard to find book and Myopic Bookstore will have you sifting through their endless rows of books, need a night of partying and end up at Crocodile for a Jameson Slushie and some great music. Wicker Park is the only place to be.
Everyone should always visit Wicker Park

Wicker park was much different 15-20 years ago. It was abundant with starving artists, bars, random spanish stores and homeless people. Slowly but surely, the neighborhood began to change into a great area that has everything from shops, food, coffee, tattoos, and bars. Need to see a live band? Get a great plate of food for your belly? Or maybe you just want to try a new beer. Any and all Wicker Park has it. No matter how you get there, driving, train, bus or cab, there's always a door that leads to something new.
Wicker Park, the best of both worlds

Wicker Park has a casually sexy social vibe, much of which centers around the intersection of Milwaukee, Damen, and North. If you're planning a visit to that part of Chicago, I recommend making an evening of it. For an informal night, why don't you a few rolls of Sushi at Enso Sushi Bar right next to the Caribou Coffee on Damen. The decor is modern and dark, with a young waitstaff eager to make recommendations and a drink menu full of surprising, light flavors. After sushi, walk down Milwaukee to Pint, a cozy bar with low, dark furniture and a wide fireplace. For a more ritzy experience, open your wallets to the charming and trendy Storefront Company on North ave. A small restaurant decorated in black and white, Storefront positively oozes charm and quite elegance. Feel free to dress up for this experience! And ask the owner, John, to recommend a drink for you. Within the span of a short greeting, he can pinpoint exactly the drink that will satisfy your cravings for the night. And when you're done with that luscious experience, turn the corner onto Damen and follow the fancy crowd to a rather Victorian-esque outdoor light fixture is the only indication of the wonderful and sexy secret that is the Violet Hour. And finally, if you do manage to spend the night in the area, there is no more decadent or delicious brunch than at the Crocodile on Milwaukee. Take your time with Wicker Park, you never know what you'll miss if you don't explore!
My favorite neighborhood in Chicago!

I love Wicker Park. I lived just north of there for a year, and before that I used to make the 1+ hour trek up regularly from the south side just to spend hours in one of the lovely coffee shops doing my homework. Besides amazing coffee shops, Wicker Park has an incredible nightlife scene. From hilarious bro-filled spots like CANS to super swanky cocktail bars like The Violet Hour to hipster havens like Big Star, Wicker Park has something for everyone. On top of that, there are plenty of really amazing, high-quality restaurants (Piece, anyone?) and during the day it is a great place for shopping, from designer boutiques to super thrift shops. So whether you are a Chicago native or a tourist, I highly recommend this neighborhood for all of your shopping, eating, and drinking needs.
