Party Earth Chicago Beer Experience Review

The Scene

Navigating a short stretch between Lincoln Park and Lakeview, the Chicago Beer Experience leads adventurous groups of friends and die-hard beer lovers along a half-mile hops-fueled adventure.

Navigating a short stretch between Lincoln Park and Lakeview, the Chicago Beer Experience leads adventurous groups of friends and die-hard beer lovers along a half-mile hops-fueled adventure.

Beginning in Lakeview at Vaughan's, a cozy Irish pub, the tour runs most Fridays through Sundays (regardless of the weather) and focuses on Chicago’s vivid beer history and the scientific sampling of sixteen beers.

Detailed discussions on proper food pairings inevitably leads to bacon at Paddy Long’s Beer and Bacon Pub, the second stop on the tour, while directions on how to visually assess, smell, and taste the iconic beverage are also covered during the walk.

Later, college students and young professionals stare with subdued envy upon entering high-end liquor shop Bodega Ramos, as they listen to the owners detail their “difficult” job of tasting each beer sold in the store. Even a short Beer 101 class is included in the Experience, in which participants are treated to a visual overview of how the beer is made.

By the time the tour ends at punk-rock bar Delilah’s, corporate types and skinny-jeaned hipsters have become fast friends, and everyone can discuss with ease the proclivities of top-fermenting yeast and the five-level scale for proper serving temperature.

Offering an unusual activity for both long-time residents and fresh-faced visitors seeking a unique Chicago afternoon, The Chicago Beer Experience is a comprehensive beer study that leaves participants a little bit tipsy and a lot more knowledgeable.
