Cadillac Palace Theatre Information

Cadillac Palace Theatre - Theater in Chicago.

The 2,344-seat Cadillac Palace Theatre is a classy and upscale venue in Chicago’s theater district operated by Broadway in Chicago. The venue has brought numerous Broadway hits to the city since 1999, such as Aida and The Producers.

Initially named The New Palace Theatre, the venue was built in 1926 by famed theater architects, the Rapp Brothers. Their inspiration came from the Fontainebleau and the Palace of Versailles in France, making the Palace one of the most decadent and extravagant theaters in the city.

While the impressive architecture of Cadillac Palace Theatre remains unchanged, its function has fluctuated a great deal. It originally opened as a vaudeville and live theater and welcomed stars such as Mae West and Bob Hope. In 1931, the theater was transformed into a movie venue, and in 1984 was renamed the Bismarck Theatre and became a live rock music venue.

Cadillac bought the naming rights in 1999, and since then, shows at the Cadillac Palace Theatre have featured some of Broadway’s greatest hits.
