Bars in Streeterville Overview

From the one of Chicago’s most famous dives to classy cocktails on top of a skyscraper, Streeterville bars offer an eclectic mix of laid-back and uber classy. And despite the odd mix, many of the same patrons can be found enjoying the upscale and “downscale” spots all in one night.

For first-time visitors, the Signature Lounge on the 96th floor of the John Hancock Building is a must-see. With epic views of the city skyline and Lake Michigan, nothing beats sipping cocktails one thousand feet above the street below. And although there is a two-drink minimum, access to the view is completely free.

Back on earth, Chicago Avenue offers a seedy and divey bar experience that is both wildly fun and entertaining. The people-watching on ground level is always great in Streeterville, and at the Billy Goat Tavern visitors will likely see things they have never seen before. For example, the place is known for its incredibly greasy cheeseburgers, but they do not serve French fries!

And of course, after a nice evening stroll down the Magnificent Mile, one can’t go wrong with a glass of wine at the Museum of Contemporary art, which offers cocktail events on the first Friday of each month.
