Party Earth Tuman's Tavern Review

The Scene

Tuman's Tavern is a dusky neighborhood joint where amiable after-work regulars, hipsters, and sports fans alike gather for a few low-key pints.

Tuman’s Tavern is a dusky neighborhood joint where amiable after-work regulars, hipsters, and sports fans alike gather for a few low-key pints.

Swinging mahogany doors right out of the Old West lead to a softly-lit room, whose embossed burgundy walls, stained glass lamps, and flickering TVs create a hushed saloon environment perfect for the welcoming mix of patrons watching sports or chatting quietly.

An open area near the back with black leather couches and rustic tables draws groups of friends looking to dig into short ribs, or chill out with one of its many brews under the ironic glow of a glass sign reading “Tuman’s Alcohol Abuse Center.”

Two arcade machines, several booths, and a second drinking den fill out the rest of the space, or guests can wander out to the gated patio, a popular destination for weekend brunch.

A neighborhood bar with a long history, Tuman’s has a laid-back atmosphere that makes it the ideal place for patrons who prefer to eat, drink, and watch sports without the usual rowdiness that is often a staple of popular neighborhood bars.

I highly recommend checking out Tuman's anytime you find yourself in the Ukrainian Village! From the outside, Tuman's definitely looks like a rickety dive bar, but you'll change your mind as soon as you step inside. The beautiful, bulky wood four-tops are a sophisticated touch to a simplistic layout and the service is always fast and extremely friendly, whether you sit at the bar or at a table. I was pleasantly surprised when 60-ounces of beer only cost $10 and was served to us in a glass pitcher; no plastic in this classy place! Their PBR-battered onion rings are a must and their chicken sandwich, although simple, is one of the best I've ever had. Even during Blackhawk playoffs, the crowd is incredibly laid back which makes Tuman's a great place to meet with friends. Overall, Tuman's has a great beer selection, their daily specials are amazing and their service is never disappointing. It's becoming my favorite place to go after work!
