Party Earth Review Founded specifically for Wrigleyville heretics who don’t care a lick about the Cubs – or at least don’t care about rowdy sports bars – Gingerman Tavern attracts everyone from hardcore bikers to skinny-jeaned rockers who couldn’t tell a Hail Mary from a Bloody one. A true dive, the space features a dusty décor of old photographs ... more

Party Earth Review On a stretch of Clark Street next to Wrigley Field where almost every business is a sports bar, Red Ivy – named for the iconic ivy on the stadium’s outfield wall – fits right in, albeit with a slightly more upscale, club-like vibe bolstered by its vaulted ceiling, sultry red lighting, and weekend DJs. Comparatively mellow ... more

Party Earth Review Named in homage to legendary University of Alabama coach Bear Bryant and his signature houndstooth hat, Houndstooth Saloon may be in the heart of Cubs country, but there’s no doubt it’s a pure Alabama bar and headquarters for homesick Southern transplants. The Wrigleyville bar scene is pretty much exactly what every Chicago baseball fan wants: greasy food, cheap beer, and a lot of loud compatriots. Cubs fans are prevalent on and off-season, while many other brave souls spend their evenings letting loose at the multitude of sports bars in the vicinity.
On game days, spots like Sluggers and The Cubby Bear are filled to capacity with avid Cubs fans. Busy before, during, and after games, these local sports bars are generally loud and rowdy, with fans downing pints, absorbing greasy hotdogs, and vaguely paying attention to the score. On non-game days, Sluggers offers dueling pianos upstairs, while The Cubby Bear often hosts live music sets.
For those less interested in getting completely drunk for the game, spots like Rockit Burger Bar offer plenty of TVs alongside hearty pub fare and a more laid-back atmosphere. Rockit also serves up live music several nights a week, often featuring local artists looking to break into the industry.
And while it might come as a surprise, non-sports fans can find solace in Wrigleyville as well. The Gingerman Tavern is a dive bar that caters heavily to the indie Metro concert crowd, while Uncommon Ground is a café and live music venue serving sustainable food and “eco-cocktails.”
