The ComedySportz Theatre Information

The ComedySportz Theatre - Comedy Club | Theater in Chicago.

Structured as sporting matches, with teams trying to out-funny each other, ComedySportz improv shows have locations in many cities. As the home of improv comedy, Chicago counts a ComedySportz troupe among its many performers. The ComedySportz troupe shares its theater with other comedians. The Lakeview theater features improv or stand-up comedy every night, with the ComedySportz gang taking the main stage several nights a week.

Though the troupe has been performing for 29 years, the ComedySportz Theatre is a new location, established in 2008 above beloved local restaurant Ann Sather. With a capacity of 149, cabaret-style seating, and a full bar, the comedy club has a raucous, friendly, and casual feel.

Ticket prices depend on show and day, but range from about $10-$22. Tickets at The ComedySportz Theatre can be purchased through Ticketmaster or directly from the theater; advance reservations are recommended. Other features of the ComedySportz Theatre include comedy classes offered to beginners and industry veterans alike.

Two dollars will make you hollar (With laughter that is!)

If you're looking for a great place to grab some cheap laughs, then I highly recommend heading over to 929 West Belmont for The Comedy Sportz "Two Dollar Bill" Wednesday nights at 8 pm. For just two dollars you can enjoy 3 quality hours of improvisational theatre. The venue itself is clean and well kept with a great bar serving everything from Beer to Grape Soda. The servers themselves are also actors so not only is it entertaining on the stage, it's also entertaining in the crow! I can't think of a better way to spend a summer night. My friends and I checked it out back in March and we're STILL talking about the show. In this day and age, nothing costs just 2 dollars anymore. I mean, even the CTA costs $2.25! So, come check out this show, you literally have nothing to lose, but a lot of fun times to gain!
Interactive, Fun Atmosphere

The interactive nature of shows at ComedySportz gives the audience a memorable experience from beginning to end. Local comedians engage in various sketches, many of which are inspired by ideas of those in the crowd. Similar to the show "Whose Line Is It Anyway?," an emphasis is placed on the use of props, singing, and other skits that keep the audience laughing the whole way through. The comedic talent ranges from young to old, as do members of the audience. The physical comedy and range of jokes make this show a great pick for various age groups. I would highly recommend this show to anyone who is looking for laughs and a chance to see some talented, local comedians!
Innocent, Slapstick, TGIF Humor

It was Friday night at 9pm and I was in need of an outing that would not leave me calling in to work the next day so I decided a good laugh should entertain me and I set out to find a comedy club. I decided to try out The Comedy Sportz Theatre which has advertised a different type of comedy show. I made it to their 10pm ComedySportz show. This is a completely PG show with no cursing, little to no innuendo, and a very young audience (ages 18-25). For anyone over the age of 25 (me) this might not sound appealing but I gave it a try and I can genuinely recommend checking it out. Be prepared to participate in the show as the crew gets their ideas on jokes directly from the audience, and if you're not afraid of the spotlight, you may even be asked to volunteer and go up onstage! The comics have a great upbeat energy and are bound to make anyone laugh if not at their dancing, imitations, or jokes, you will leave with a smile on your face. This is good wholesome fun.
