Restaurants in the Waterfront / Fort Point Overview

Boston Convention & Exhibition Center (BCEC) - Convention Center in Waterfront / Fort Point, Boston

Thanks to a boom in development in the area, due in no small part to the mayor's heavy encouragement of the newly coined “Innovation District,” the Waterfront and Fort Point restaurants are often just debuting with more opening all the time.

The Waterfront Legal Seafoods seems to be the crown jewel in the chain's locally-birthed dynasty, boasting 3 different harbor-facing floors, loads of patio seating, and multiple full-length bars. Other nearby spots, like Jerry Remy's, Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steak House, Strega Waterfront Restaurant, and Temazcal Tequila Cantina seem to be a more theatrical type of spot than those seen in most neighborhoods in Boston. This expanse of this area of town has allowed restaurateurs to build venues with more space, higher seating capacity, and more dramatic visual embellishments like multi-level wine storage, theater-sized big screen TVs, and floor-to-ceiling windows that perfectly frame the breathtaking views of Boston Harbor.

The Barking Crab, a legendary seafood joint at the mouth of Fort Point Channel, right near Fan Pier, is a wildly popular summer hang-out, serving up some of the city's best seafood with a lively wait staff and family-style seating. The place even has live music in their open-air tent area, so that folks might enjoy some tunes while they pick apart their lobsters.
