The Museum of Science (MOS) located on Boston’s scenic waterfront has been educating generations of citizens about all aspects of scientific pursuits for almost two centuries. Founded originally as a natural history museum in 1830, it underwent a major overhaul in 1951 to concentrate solely on science, the first museum in the US to do so. Today, the three-story building features over 500 interactive exhibits, and also houses a planetarium, a butterfly garden, a 3D digital cinema, a simulator, and an IMAX theater showing both educational and popular films. Daily live presentations at The Museum of Science allow visitors to catch a show on a variety of topics from optical illusions to juggling, or even immerse themselves in the performance in the “hands-on laboratory.” In addition to the reoccurring shows at The Museum of Science, the museum also hosts a plethora of special events, such as sleepover nights for school aged children, book club meetings, lectures, tours, and community forums. For guests who would like to take a tour of the city after their museum visit, the MOS acts as one of the launching points for the popular Boston Duck Tours, and combo tickets are available.
