You might have to get a perfect SAT score to get accepted to Harvard, but the school’s football stadium, simply named Harvard Stadium, is open to anyone who’d like to attend a game. Built in 1903, the stadium is located on the outskirts of Allston and seats over 30,000 roaring Crimson fans.
While Harvard Stadium functions primarily as a football field, it has also acted as a concert venue in the past, notably hosting Bob Marley and Janis Joplin. It served as the New England Patriots’ home field for a season, and is one of only four stadiums in the nation to be designated as a national historical landmark.
Parking at Harvard Stadium is on a first-come first-serve basis, and while Harvard Business School’s lot is often used for overflow, it can still be tricky to find a space. There are several options to get to the stadium via T: fans can either take the Red Line to Harvard Square and walk over the bridge to Boston, or hop on the 86 bus which stops in front of the stadium.
With a heated rivalry with Yale dating back several decades, games at Harvard Stadium are an exciting way to while away an afternoon.
