Bostonians know that South End restaurants are not yet overrun by tourists, and they’re more than happy to keep it that way. With most of the neighborhood not easily accessible by the T, it maintains a quaint vibe.
Restaurants in the South End have their own quiet claims to fame. Tremont 647's owner and executive chef appeared on Hell's Kitchen. Gaslight Brasserie Du Coin set the scene for shots in the movie Knight and Day with Tom Cruise. When The Beehive first opened, there were lines around the block for months. Other highlights of the 'hood include spots like Butcher Shop and the recently-opened Boston Chops.
One of the most acclaimed restaurants in the South End is Myers+Chang, which serves Chinese, Taiwanese, Thai, and Vietnamese dishes in a hip, modern space. It's co-owned by Joanne Chang, whose incredibly popular chain Flour Bakery + Café has a location down the street that's regularly packed to the brim with folks looking for a panini or sticky bun.
