Party Earth Review The oldest continually operating restaurant in the country, Union Oyster House has been forking up its namesake mollusk since 1826 in a building so old that nobody is quite sure when it was built. A major tourist hotspot, the bi-level venue’s main draw is the small ground floor oyster bar, where boisterous out-of-towners ... more

Party Earth Review An Tain’s name may refer to a famous tale of Irish mythology, but fierce bloody battles and royal courtship are a far cry from what patrons find at this Boston dive – though the beer prices may well be worth an epic poem or two. Located on the fringe of the Financial District, the small venue sees a line of young execs ... more

Party Earth Review Hearty plates, classic Negronis, and cheap, cold domestics all get equal attention at basement bar Silvertone Bar & Grill, a cozy Downtown hangout that seeks to emulate a perfect combination of old and new. Party Earth Review A Boston landmark dating back to 1795, The Bell In Hand Tavern – named after founder Jimmy Wilson, Boston’s last town crier – claims to be America’s oldest tavern. Party Earth Review Cocktails in buckets, bachelorettes, and the Backstreet Boys probably don’t spring to mind when thinking about a piano bar, but they all apply to the eternally busy Howl at the Moon. Party Earth Review If the fist-pumping Jersey Shore crew ever relocated to Boston, odds are good The Place would be on their frizzy-haired radar. In fact, they’d fit right in amid the kids in low-cut shirts and barely-there skirts who show up for nightly DJs and large cocktails. Chiefly a sports bar earlier in the day, the venue draws young ... more

Catering to the suit-clad business folk that inhabit the Financial District, the restaurants in this area are always classy and sophisticated, and are perfect for anyone looking for guaranteed good wine and food with excellent service.
Downtown restaurants are a mix of more food-on-the-go type places – think sandwich stops, pizza by the slice, take-out, and bread bowls of chowder, which fits in well in a neighborhood that sees so many annual tourists in the summer, and tons of commuters throughout the year. Folks in town attending events at the TD Banknorth Garden also often end up in this area, grabbing a quick, casual dinner before heading over to the arena.
The Quincy Market area does use its outdoor space to its advantage, with most areas vastly increasing their seating capacity once the weather turns warm. Most of the restaurants here play to some sort of theme or kitsch to attract their business, such as the television studio replica Cheers, the paper hats and balloons at Dick's Last Resort, the dinosaur leg-sized prime rib at Durgin Park, or the baseball-friendly demeanor of Slugger's Dugout. While all of these are definitely no-frills sorts of places, the tourist-trap location does affect pricing, which means this is still not the most affordable place to eat in the city.
