Downtown / Financial District, Boston –
An upscale lounge with four levels offering distinctly different social atmospheres, Market is a popular spot where college students, financial types, and local celebrities meet to drink, dance, and hook up.
The first floor consists of several small spaces, including a main room with a black and red motif, dramatic chandeliers, and a round wooden bar right in the center where a lively clientele of young professionals gathers to toss back drinks, flirt, and eventually dance across the black-and-white checkered floor.
More laid-back partygoers can relax on plush oversized chairs at high tables or on the bright red couches, or hang out in the more casual back room to catch some Boston sports on the flat-screen TVs.
A small outdoor patio provides a haven for those who don’t want to wait in line for access to the fourth floor roof deck, a mostly unadorned space where a few lucky patrons can admire the skyline – and each other – over a cocktail or two.
Although the second and third floors are often given over to private functions or exclusive VIP bashes for local sports celebrities, they open up after 9pm when DJs start spinning Top 40 and hip-hop tunes that get a much more boisterous college crowd on its feet and dancing.
Perfect for more relaxed drinks in the early evening, Market definitely kicks it up a few notches as the night progresses and the after-work crowd gives way to a rowdier meat market of frat and sorority types looking to party hard until closing.
Young professionals and finance types earlier in the evening, preppy post-grads, college students, and fraternity and sorority types later on, 20s to 30s.
Satellite radio plays Top 40 hits in the early evening. DJs spin Top 40, hip-hop, and house nightly at 9pm. Finale Fridays and Vendetta Saturdays feature rotating DJs.
Outdoor roof deck party at 3pm on Wednesdays in the summer. Flat-screen TVs tuned to Boston sports. Live band karaoke on Wednesdays at 8pm.
Full dinner menu with upscale bar food like fried dill pickles and pulled pork sandwiches.
Cover charge $10/F–Sa. Appetizers $5–$15, soups/salads, $3.50–$10, sandwiches $7–$10, entrées $12–$19. Beer $5–$7.50, wine $7–$13, cocktails $7–$15.

Thursdays and Fridays for the after-work crowd, or Fridays and Saturdays for drinking and dancing the night away.
The Vault (105 Water Street) is a similar spot with craft cocktails just around the corner.
