Party Earth Review Without question, Royale Boston is one of the hottest Beantown clubbing spots, playing host to hordes of young singles looking for fun. The elaborate main floor, whose carved moldings and crystal chandeliers hark back to the venue’s past as an opera house, is fitted out with an ultra-modern sound system and ... more

Info Amid the lights and the neon signs of the Theater District, the Citi Performing Arts Center is comprised of two neighboring theaters on Tremont Street: the Wang and Shubert Theaters. Info The Wilbur Theatre is probably one of the strangest places in the nation to see a comedy show – raunchy jokes don’t generally get told in a historical brick building that dates back to 1914 with sweeping red curtains and a glittering chandelier. The Chinatown area of Boston includes the nearby Theater District, which is not very residential since it is made up mostly of hotels, restaurants, and performance venues. Spots like the Wilbur Theatre and the Citi Performing Arts Center host performances year-round of everything from comedic presentations to great dramas to classical music concerts featuring great operatic singers.
Royale Boston, which formerly hosted the Boston troupe of Chippendales when it was known as The Roxy, still takes advantage of its massive amounts of space by hosting concerts by DJs, rappers, pop stars, and other performers that can help justify the exorbitant cover charges.
Nearby Suffolk University has played its own part in maintaining and reviving the historic theaters of years past. In 2010, The Modern Theater, which was purchased by the school in 2008, was re-opened with much fanfare as a residence hall and 185-seat theater space that regularly hosts intimate performances by musicians, comedians, and actors.
While the Leather District itself does not have any major music venues within the neighborhood area, since its location abuts Chinatown and the Theater District, this up-and-coming section of the city does boast easy access to some of the most exciting and historical venues in Boston.
