Christmas in Germany is a month-long celebration. In Berlin, the Berlin Christmas Market attracts hundreds of thousands of travelers with over sixty different traditional Christmas markets lasting through the month of December. While there are plenty of small specialty markets to choose from throughout the city, the biggest Christmas Market in Berlin is at the
Spandau Old Town with 250 unique stands during the week and 400 stands on weekends. The annual Berlin Christmas Market features live holiday music as well as hundreds of vendors selling traditional gifts and handmade crafts. Visit St. Nicolas at the St. Nikolai Church and take in the canopies of beautiful lights and ornaments hung throughout the city. The Christmas Market also offers views of elaborate nativity scenes with live animals roaming through the manger, and every Wednesday starting at the St. Nikolai Church the market presents a traditional medieval plague procession.
Admission to the Berlin Christmas Market is free and all ages are welcome. After hunting for gifts and filling up on festivities, try some traditional mulled wine at the historic bars nearby in Berlin.
