Long Night of Museums Description

Long Night of Museums - Art Exhibit in Berlin.

Ben Stiller shouldn’t be the only person who gets to have fun during museum after-hours. The good people of Berlin encourage everyone to be his or her own Larry Daley and join the city’s Long Night of Museums when nearly 70 museums and exhibition houses open their doors for a special night of exhibitions. Berlin’s Long Night of Museums takes place twice a year and each night has a specific theme, with some of the past themes being Frederick the Great and Museum Landscapes in Transition.

Berlin’s Long Night of Museums began in 1997 and has been so successful that it has been copied in numerous cities around the globe. Typically, museums open their doors from 6pm to 2am and stage hundreds of special events, ranging from readings to musical performances and there are several shuttle buses that take passengers from location to location. At the end of the night, there is normally an after-party at the Temporäre Kunsthalle – the symbolic location of Berlin’s past and future – that wraps up around 4am.
