Major arenas and stadiums in Berlin play host to some of the hottest music acts in the world but also share space with big-time sporting events and teams.
One of the largest and most famous Berlin stadiums is the Olympic Stadium that was originally built back in the 1930s but then retrofitted for the World Cup in 2006. The arena holds more than 75,000 spectators and is home to Berlin football favorites Hertha BSC. In addition to football and other major sporting competitions, the stadium hosts international stars and everyone from Madonna and Guns N’ Roses, to The Rolling Stones and Bruce Springsteen have performed here.
Another important stadium in Berlin is O2 World. The 17,000 person arena hosts everything from basketball and hockey games, to major concerts and events. Metallica and Sting have both played here as have the Buffalo Sabres and Los Angeles Kings from the National Hockey League in North America.
