SantaCon is an annual parade in which hundreds of individuals dressed as Santa Claus party and celebrate the holidays in the streets of Berlin. Originally started in 1994 in San Francisco, the event now takes place in more than 35 countries.
Starting on a designated Saturday evening in December, throngs of fully costumed Santas partake in a massive parade and pub-crawl lasting into the early hours of Sunday morning. Although there is no strict event schedule, a suggested route is posted a few days before the event.
Past SantaCon Berlin venues include the Oscar Wilde Irish Pub, Reichstag, Roses Bar, and Brandenburger Tor.
There are a number of ‘guidelines’ for SantaCon; for example, you must call everyone “Santa” and you must dress up as something holiday related.
SantaCon is free and anyone can join in the festivities by simply wearing a costume and bringing enough money for food and drinks!
