For a taste of Cuba in the middle of Berlin, head to La Bodeguita del Medio, a lively little place where twinkling Christmas lights, Cuban flags, and the requisite portrait of Che Guevara form the backdrop for a fun-loving crowd.
Up-tempo Latin beats and flashing music videos add to the festive ambiance, as do the bar’s locally famous mojitos, Cuba libres, and daiquiris.
The party reaches its high point on Wednesday nights when La Bodeguita hosts some of the best Latin and Caribbean bands in Berlin. Local fans fill the tables for dinner and then stay to dance to the exotic Latin rhythms. Bands start at 9pm and keep the small dance floor packed until closing time.
Affordable and spirited, La Bodeguita is a good place to let one’s hair down and enjoy the tropical cocktails.
Mostly locals, mid-20s to 30s.
