Opened in 2004, Festsaal Kreuzberg in Berlin’s Kreuzberg is a popular venue for concerts, readings, panel discussions, parties, and fashion shows.
Festsaal means “ballroom,” and the building used to serve as a Turkish wedding hall. One feature of the old ballroom at Festsaal Kreuzberg is the old wooden balustrade that rings the balcony. Another highlight of Festsaal Kreuzberg are the two small cellar rooms, which are often the site of intense electro parties like DJ Emma Electric’s You’re My Disco.
Festsaal Kreuzberg has a capacity for around 1,500 and performances at Festsaal Kreuzberg have included concerts by Sebedoh, Rotor, Superpunk, Saint Vitus, Caribou, Mudhoney and The Rascals.
Between concerts, regular literary and cultural events such as readings and poetry slams take place at Festaal Kreuzberg.
