Outdoors in Kreuzberg / Neukölln Overview

Farbfernseher - Bar | Club in Kreuzberg / Neukölln, Berlin

Berlin is an outdoor city, except of course for the two cold, dark months of January and February. In Kreuzberg and Neukölln, Berlin’s bohemian quarters, there is no shortage of outdoor activities (almost) year-round.

A day outdoors in Kreuzberg has plenty of options, from window shopping with a crowd of young 20-somethings on Oranienstrasse, to having a coffee and a stroll, or sitting on the grass – beer in hand – at Görlitzer Park with the local artist and musician crowds.

There is also the Spree River Canal that connects the two neighborhoods. It’s a great space for outdoor activities like throwing a Frisbee around, letting the kids play on the slide, or just plain people watching.

Outdoor activities in Neukölln can be enjoyed in the very large, family-friendly Hasenheide Park, where groups of young people, dog walkers, joggers, and sunbathers can be spotted. There's plenty of barbecuing, socializing, and drinking happening in Hasenheide Park, too.

In Neukölln there are also many outdoor markets like the thrice-weekly Türkenmarkt, or the twice-monthly Nowkoelln Flowmarkt, both located directly on the Spree River Canal.

There is simply too much to mention for a day spent outdoors in Kreuzberg and Neukölln. A good set of walking shoes might be the only requirement.
