A small club conveniently located in Hackescher Markt, Bang Bang is a favorite of indie rock fans in their late teens and twenties, as well as British expats who show up in droves for the bi-weekly Britpop/indie rock dance nights.
Hipsters sporting skinny jeans and the latest pseudo-trends pack the dance floor or climb onto the raised platform, which doubles as a stage for live bands, to dance in groups and sing along with the upbeat tracks.
On the first floor, rock videos and other random scenes are projected onto sheets tacked to the walls, while concert posters and stickers from previous events make up the rest of the décor.
The basement area provides a slightly more subdued vibe and offers comfy black couches stacked in stair-step fashion, a second bar, and a small dance floor.
While Bang Bang’s appearance may be a bit rough and haphazard, the great mix of music and the fun-loving clientele infuse the club with all the energy it needs.
Indie rockers and English-speaking expats, late teens to early 30s.
Live bands on Wednesdays and some Saturdays. DJs spin electro, house, and indie on Mondays and Thursdays, Britpop and indie rock on Tuesdays and Fridays, and indie rock on Saturdays when there’s no band.
