WEST BERLIN –
A West Berlin institution, Schwarzes Café is a cozy bohemian restaurant that serves an incredible breakfast all day long and is crowded with night owls until dawn.
The brick walls covered in old, rustic murals lends the downstairs area a warm, intimate vibe, while the delicate hanging lights on the small patio create the ambiance of a quaint tea garden.
Most guests, however, head upstairs to the ballroom, now converted into a charming space with wooden floors and ornately carved ceilings where both laid-back absinthe drinkers and hungry patrons can satisfy their cravings for fresh pasta, schnitzel, or salads.
The best tables are those on the balconies that overlook the street, where patrons can enjoy the fresh air as well as the room’s beautifully preserved gold ceilings and rococo décor.
For good food at good prices at any time, Schwarzes is awfully tough to beat.
All types and ages.
Ambient lounge and jazz music.
Breakfast served all day, as well as pasta and salads. Specials featuring seasonal dishes available daily 11:30am–8pm.

Smart casual.
It gets crowded by 11pm and stays that way all night, especially on the weekends.
