Plaça de la Sardana User Reviews

Average rating:
Piknic Electronic on Sundays during summer is the place to be
Sam S. Jun 26, 2013
My Take: Montjuic’s Plaça de la Sardana transforms itself every Sunday during the summer into Barcelona’s hottest party. Billed as a family event, Piknic Electronic isn’t where I’d be taking my children. Although it’s equipped with inflatable play areas and plenty of space to sit down for an actual picnic, the event appeals mostly to Barcelona’s young and party hungry crowd. Hundreds, if not thousands of people ascend the mountain to drink, dance to live electronic DJs, and enjoy the gorgeous views of Barcelona under the sun. With a rotating DJ set, no two Sunday’s are the same. Estrella sponsored booths serve alcohol and other refreshments and keep the party going until sundown. The Scene: While there are an odd amount of young children hanging around during the earlier parts of the day, once the party gets going and the alcohol and other chemical enhancements get ingested, Piknic Electronic turns into a full fledged party. Cocktails & Cuisine: They serve hot dogs and other ball park type food as well as some Catalan food. Beer and sangria as well as cava and other refreshments are available at the booths. Prices: The money system is annoying as they require that you buy tokens before getting food or drinks. A small beer is 3 euros and a large beer is 5 euros. My advice would be to get 10 tokens as you need to pay for your re-useable cup. This means you get 3 smaller beers after you’ve purchased your cup. Entry to the event is 8 euros before 4pm and 11 after. What to Wear: Wear whatever you like. Shirts, skins, shorts, sandals; everything flies at Piknic Electronic. Insider Info/When to go: If you are planning on getting there before 4 to get the early entry, get there earlier than you anticipated. The lines tend to be long and move slow. Bring a beer or two to drink in line and although they don’t allow drinks to be brought in from outside, there’s always room in your pocket or the front of your pants for a little flask.
