Party Earth Marmalade Review

The Scene

Marmalade in Barcelona's El Raval is a trendy lounge/restaurant with stellar cocktails that won't break the bank. Sip your way in Barcelona with Party Earth.

The younger sister to Milk Bar & Bistro, a hip spot in Barrí Gòtic, Marmalade is run by the same people, but her youth cultivates a larger and considerably swankier environment.

The bright logo out front contrasts with the dim interior, where plush leather sofas, long rows of blood-orange banquettes, and fine, tufted chairs make it easy to believe that perhaps inventory was left behind from the upscale furniture shop that used to occupy the space.

Throughout the night, the buzz and murmur of conversation bubbles under a soundtrack of jazz and soul-inspired beats, as trendy professionals drop in after work to take advantage of select €5 cocktail specials.

Sectioned into four distinct areas, the venue has ample room for large groups to gather and chow down on house favorites like barbecue pork ribs, burgers, and even an upscale take on nachos and cheese, or play a few rounds on the antique pool table across from the bar.

The scene often picks up later in the night, when throngs of high-spirited Barcelona night owls pop over from Las Ramblas, their multitude of languages filling the bar as patrons wind down over Tom Collinses and Bloody Marias, while regular brunch fare like smoothies and eggs Benedict coat those alcohol-soaked tummies in ways tapas never could.

A great place to start and/or end a wild weekend, Marmalade’s digs are sweet, its ambiance chic, and its vibe is rarely jammed.

Trendy with a Taste of Home

Marmalade is a delicious restaurant located in El Raval. If you are looking for a great place with a trendy atmosphere, good service, and a menu with great food, variety, and prices, it is definitely a place I’d recommend. El Raval seems to be a place that is somewhat unknown by many visitors to Barcelona. It is a cool area and Marmalade is just one of the many fun and trendy bars and restaurants. After a couple months of trying out traditional Spanish dishes while studying abroad, we couldn’t have stumbled upon Marmalade at a better time. The menu is full of a variety of different dishes, from Buffalo Style Chicken Wings and Chicken or Steak Fajitas, to Barbecue Pork Ribs or several choices of burgers. Every dish is under 10 euro, and definitely satisfied everyone at the table. Tip! Just to be safe, call and make a reservation ahead of time. The first time we tried to eat there we weren’t able to get in without one!
Good for just chilling out.

Pool table in the corner, a girl who knows how to make a good cup of coffee, low lighting some cool tracks cranking through speakers... Yeah, this is a good place to have lunch at. Or cocktails. Or just a coffee whilst you send some e-mails on your iPad. It looks expensive, but it really isn’t, making for a fresh change from most other over-priced eateries in Barcelona.
Pretty trendy, not really my scene

Quite stylish and pretty crowd. Service was quite slow but hey, it’s Spain, chill out. Décor-wise it’s a cool combination of old and new, with lots of plush bright sofas and loungers set along the old tiled floors. It’s really quite cozy, despite being fairly large, because it is broken into a few distinct areas. Cocktails are good but on the pricey-side…wannah say averaging 6 or 7 Euros plus for a tiny one. Like most spots in Barcelona it doesn’t pick up till late. Met some beautiful women who I am sure will break my heart. Met some douche guys I want to punch in the face. There you go.
