An immensely popular club with a rich program of events, Sidecar Factory offers unpretentious entertainment every night except Sundays.
On Sundays things get REALLY pretentious! Actually, they’re closed Sundays.
Although the upstairs bar, with its slick red-and-white color scheme and enormous projection screen, is a fine place for a beer, the real action takes place downstairs.
Six nights a week at 10pm, a younger crowd of pierced and tattooed locals streams in for the rock, metal, and funk/soul concerts, while after midnight the club welcomes a more diverse crowd that comes to enjoy the special DJ nights.
Brazelona Sessions on Tuesdays and the electro sounds of Rodeo Club on Wednesdays are both popular, but indie rock and cult classics reign supreme, with patrons lining up on the weekends to see the likes of Razorlight, Arctic Monkeys, and even Billy Idol.
The space itself is basic: a long bunker-like room with low ceilings and peeling red paint constitutes the dance area, with some park benches scattered on the outskirts. Separated from the dance floor by crumbling brick arches is a small bar where the harried staff struggles to keep up with the demands of an impatient clientele eager to get back to the action.
Many non-musical events also take place here, including art shows, cabaret, and even the occasional comic book nerdfest, but for those looking to really rock out in Barcelona, Sidecar is easily one of the better stations in town.
Young and alternative for the concerts, and an approachable, international mix for the late-night club, 18 to 30.
The basement club hosts live music from rock and punk to reggae, 10pm–12:30am every night except Monday. DJs spin for the rest of the night.
None.
Concerts €7+, club cover charge €5–€9, includes one drink. Beer €4+, cocktails €7+.
Anything goes.
Busiest on Thursdays and weekends around 2am, although Rrrocky Mondays and Brazelona Sessions on Tuesdays are also popular.
