Flann O'Brien - Irish Pub in Barcelona.

Party Earth Review Established in 1994, Flann O’Brien is the second oldest Irish pub in Barcelona and is dedicated, not surprisingly, to the holy trinity of beer, sports, and live music. A range of tasty brews like Guinness and Murphy’s Ale pour from the taps as live rock and pop get the crowd going from Thursday to Saturday. Meanwhile, the ... more

Obama - Live Music Venue | Pub | Restaurant in Barcelona.

Party Earth Review Given the name, patrons might expect a lot of presidential kitsch, yet apart from a rather jarring mannequin – more on that in a second – Obama is mainly a British-themed pub with a mainly Spanish menu and mainly soccer on its TVs. Pubs in L'Eixample Overview

Plaza De Toros Monumental De Barcelona - Bullring in L'Eixample, Barcelona

Despite being hundreds of miles away from the United Kingdom or The Republic of Ireland, the pub culture in Barcelona is surprisingly strong. The city is covered with English and Irish watering holes and on FC Barcelona match days, they are often the place to be to catch Barça in action. L’Eixample’s pub scene is as strong as any other part of the city with a myriad of venues that attract locals, tourists, and expats alike on a daily basis.

Perhaps the most well-known of the pubs in L’Eixample is adorned with a rather odd name for a British style pub. Obama is home to a life-sized mannequin of the commander in chief but outside of the opportunity take a photo tossing one back with the president, the rest of Obama’s decor pays homage to British culture and general oddities. Still, the live music, good prices, and eclectic mix of patrons make Obama one of the most popular pubs in L’Eixample night after night.

Apparently also grateful to St. Patrick for ridding Ireland of all its snakes, Barcelona also tips its hat to the famous saint with tons of Irish pubs, the second oldest of which resides in L’Eixample. Hosting live-music on weekends, Flann O’Brien is one of the best places to step out of Spain and into the Emerald Isle for an Irish ale.
