Good for Groups in L'Eixample Overview

Bikini - Concert Venue in L'Eixample, Barcelona

L’Eixample translates from Catalan to "the addition" as it was built as an add-on to accommodate Barcelona’s growing population toward the end of the 19th century. Unlike most adjuncts, L’Eixample contributes a great deal to what makes Barcelona so special. From a booming bar and nightlife scene to some of the city’s most famous architecture, L’Eixample is great for a group excursion and a night on the town.

A walk from Plaça Catalunya down Passeig de Gracia heads straight into the heart of L’Eixample and offers a noticeable change in the city’s ambiance from the old city. The buskers and hawkers are replaced by upscale stores and trendy restaurants. Although L’Eixample isn’t as old as some of its counterparts, one of the few constants is that it’s still full of historic sites to see.

On Passeig de Gracia alone, hordes of people crowd around Casa Batilló and La Pedrera, two of Antoní Gaudí’s most important buildings. It’s not difficult to find daytime activities that are good for groups in L’Eixample, and a walk around this neighborhood has to be at the top of the list.

L’Eixample’s nightlife scene is descended upon nightly by crowds of students, locals, and expats. And with the vast array of bars and clubs like Chupitos or Dow Jones Bar, L’Eixample sets itself apart as being one of the best places to hang out with your crew at any time of the day.
