Free Things to Do in Gràcia Overview

Barcelona is teeming with free activities. There are literally hundreds of things to do throughout the city at any given time. Each neighborhood brings its own unique set of places to explore and pursuits to undertake but perhaps the most famous and interesting free thing to do lies in Gràcia.

Parc Güell is a sprawling park located towards the north end of the Gràcia. Artfully designed and carefully crafted by the world famous Modernist architect Antoni Gaudí, Parc Güell offers hours upon hours of activities as thousands of tourists descend upon its golden paths to inspect its intricate tile designs, hallowed caverns, and of course the main attraction: Gaudí’s lizard. All in all, Parc Güell is the most rewarding of Gràcia’s free things to do.

Gràcia and Barcelona were once separate cities altogether. Although today the street Passeig de Gràcia runs through L’Eixample, it still is considered the gateway to Gràcia. Along this wide open avenue are some of Gaudí’s most famous architectural pieces and although they cost a small entry fee, they are still amazing to see from the outside.

In addition to amazing architecture and parks, Gràcia is also home to two famous plazas in Plaça del Sol and Plaça de Riue i Taulet. These two squares are beautifully placed in areas of Gràcia that offer tourists and locals alike the chance to sit outside and enjoy a coffee or beer in some of Barcelona’s most serene environments.
