Tucked away in a sequestered courtyard near La Seu Cathedral, Caj Chai is a romantic tea house that serves infusions from every corner of the globe, though it specializes in the Far East.
Leaves picked during the humid autumn in the Himalayan mountains are no ordinary leaves, and Caj Chai’s menu advises customers of all the unique properties of each brew. Whether patrons are searching for something to refresh, stimulate, or calm them, there’s a tea with their name on it.
The uncluttered layout of the café, which is limited to a scattering of tables and sofas, contributes to the relaxing environment.
Walls feature Japanese calligraphy and unobtrusive works of modern art like fish mosaics and abstract portraits.
Caj Chai draws a steady yet mellow crowd of all ages who come to enjoy the soothing ambiance and chat over an excellent cup of tea.
Low key and mature, mostly local, 20 to 60.
Ambient world music.
Arabian, Japanese, and Indian pastries, donuts, and brownies. Breakfast offered Tu–Su.
Snacks €2+. Teas €2.50+.
Casual.
Anytime for a change of pace and a good cup of tea.
