My Take: Oviso is a restaurant and bar located in the heart of Barrí Gótic. A combination of Spanish cuisine, delicious burgers, free flowing beer, and great prices makes Oviso one of the best places to grab a bite in the famous Plaça George Orwell; more commonly known as “Plaça Trippy.” Add on the fact that after 11pm or so Oviso becomes a popular bar, and it’s easy to see why it’s crowded from dinner time until closing. The Scene: Oviso is popular amongst tourists and locals and is full of a mostly younger crowd. It’s small tables can be moved together for bigger groups but it also lends itself well to dinner or drinks for two. Cocktails & Cuisine: Oviso has great burgers, salads, sandwiches, and tapas. Since it also doubles as a full bar, if you can drink it, they can make it. Prices: Burgers and other meals run around six euros and beers are about two. They also serve wine and mixed drinks that range in price from about four euro and up. What to Wear: Oviso is like many bars and restaurants in the Gótic area in that it is laid back and relaxed meaning there is no need to dress up. Insider Info/When to go: Oviso is a great place for lunch with a menu of the day that offers great prices. Plaça Trippy got its name for a reason. If you’re looking to start a big night out, this area is a good place to start.
