Although the café at Barcelona’s Wax Museum seems an unlikely place of interest, El Bosc de les Fades (The Forest of the Fairies) has done a terrific job of creating an enchanted glade where patrons can sip coffee or cocktails amid trickling waterfalls and the twisted branches of gigantic tropical trees.
The main room offers plenty of seating under this simulated foliage, but patrons who want the full-immersion effect must cross over the bridge and into the private grotto where they can get lost in the very depths of the mysterious forest.
For those who prefer a creepier fantasyland, El Bosc de les Fades also provides a “haunted house” room complete with eerie mannequins and a magic mirror in which apparitions suddenly appear and then vanish again.
The kitschy but undoubtedly original bar attracts a broad mix of people eager to socialize or just relax and take in El Bosc de les Fades’ cool vibe.
Laid back and sociable, mostly tourists, 18 to 30s.
A soothing ambient hum of forest sounds, soft rumbling storms, insects, and wild animals.
Hot sandwiches and snacks.
Sandwiches €4. Beer €3, sangria €3.50 or €12/pitcher.
Casual.
Equally packed on weekdays and weekends, so this may be a great spot to check out earlier in the week. Go around 11pm for more of a crowd.
