Aug 8, 2013 —  Americans are big on their freedom. That might be one of the reasons why the country is jam-packed with singles neighborhoods where unattached denizens do some serious mingling.

One locale that's overflowing with bachelors and bachelorettes is the swanky Gold Coast in Chicago. The area’s Rush & Division bar scene is lively on a nightly basis, filled with budget-conscious college kids and young professionals on the prowl for some action.

Across the country in Santa Monica, CA, former fraternity bros and sorority sisters converge at watering holes like Finn McCool’s and The Victorian in hopes of landing a one-night stand. Similarly, an assortment of gay-friendly bars and clubs in DC’s DuPont Circle serve as the perfect place to run into a charming, like-minded, commitment-less guy or gal.

Not to be left out, San Francisco’s Marina and Cow Hollow districts are so in tune with the unhitched that the local store – a Safeway – is jokingly referred to as “The Dateway.” It's in this part of town that you'll find the (in)famous Triangle, a popular intersection with bars full of buzzed, mid-20s boozers looking for a good time.

If you’re flying solo these days, it’s time to get out to these happening hoods. There might be one person for everyone, but that doesn’t mean there can’t be a bunch of other people in the meantime.
