National Mill Day Description

National Mill Day - Special Event in Amsterdam.

Europe is chock-full of historic sites that draw tourists and locals alike. Every second Saturday in May, over 600 recognizable – as well as some lesser-known – Dutch windmills and watermills open their doors to visitors.

On National Mill Day, millers decorate their sites with an exquisite and beautiful assortment of flowers and flags. Additionally, millers provide guests with tours of their mills, all the while explaining the mill’s former purpose, as most mills are no longer in use. National Mill Day guests have the opportunity to give a hand in turning the sails at a mill and take a bike ride to various mills.

National Mill Day also offers children’s activities, making it fun for the whole family. National Mill Day is free to attend, but a small contribution helps maintain the event’s upkeep.
